From the time of application, it could take anywhere from 5 days to 4 weeks. It could take longer if labs are required or if the insurance company requires copies of medical records from your doctor. Most carriers will not need labs if you are under age 45 and applying for under $10,000 per month in benefits; however, you will still have to answer medical questions and they will do some background checks such as reviewing your pharmacy records and driving history from the DMV.

Once we’ve worked together to select the right carrier, we would complete an application – all carriers have an eApplication process where we would complete the application followed by a request for you to eSign the application. After you’ve eSigned, the application will be underwritten and reviewed by the carrier and they will have you complete a questionnaire, typically online. This covers items like health history, occupational history, and lifestyle items. For some applications, medical labs or financial documentation may be requested by the carrier. If the carrier has any follow up questions, we will work with you to get those questions answered. When the policy has been approved, we’d go over everything one last time and then you’d eSign to accept the policy.

No, the insurance company pays for that.

Yes, however in some cases it might not be necessary for you to buy policies with all those features. It will depend on your occupation and your risk tolerance. This would require a conversation on the phone.

No, we do not. We only get paid by the insurance company if when you purchase a policy and it’s built into the premium of the policy.

No, in most cases, it will not cost less. The pricing is the same if you buy from a broker or the carrier. Some carriers offer policies directly on their website. However, it is best to work with an independent broker as they will reach out to multiple insurance carriers to research the best option for your specific situation. For example, if you use marijuana in any form, it would be best to use a broker as not all life insurance carriers view marijuana use in a favorable light. Same for Visas. For example, if you are in the USA on a J1 or H1 visa, most life insurance carriers will not offer you a policy. Some will, but many will not.

There are no discounts on Life insurance.
